Well, today is my birthday and I'm celebrating my definitive departure from youth (33 andl Jesus never got any older so, as I compare myself only with really interesting personalities....), with ordering myself some nice books at amazon. This is the list:
What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt (on the recommendation of Meirav)
Ashtanga Yoga: The Practice Manual by David Swenson (On the recommendation of Liat)
A Guide to Old English by Bruce Mitchell and Fred C. Robinson (a book I wanted to buy a lot of time)
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer (on the recommendation of all kind of people. I had to choose between his first book which deals with Holocaust, Everything is Illuminated, and this one that deals with 9/11. But then I heard that this one has some Holocaust it in as well, the author is Jewish after all, so I went for 2 disasters in one)
I can't wait for them to show up at the post office (It will however take some time if I know amazon and the Israeli Postal Services well...)
At amazon I also saw that my all time favorite comics artists John Porcellino published a new hardcover called King-Cat Classix that include some of his best stories from his quarterly fanzine King Cat Comics. This one I will however buy directly from the artist. I love his simple minimalistic drawings, his mellow humor, his precise observations and his great stories about nothing.
