If so, you will recognize a friend in Haruki Murakami. In his litterature I have found the most amazing of writings on what it means to live out of the ordinary, in a geography of fiction and realities getting confusingly real to you. I started reading him when I got Norwegan wood in my hand as a present. Much of his production is available in english.
